Change color order
How to change the color order in a DST file
Open the DST below and use the arrows beside each stop: Move up and Move down change the order it sews in. Download, and the file sews in your new order.
A move is refused when the two stops stitch over the same spot, because the one sewn later would end up underneath.

What happens in the file
The stops are written in the new order with a color change between each. When a stop moves, the needle travels to it with short travel stitches, the same way it moves between parts of a design now.
Worked example
The sample flower on this page has 8 stops in three threads: green (stem and two leaves), pink (three petals) and gold (bee and center). Try moving the gold center (stop 8) above the top petal (stop 7): it is refused, because the center sews on top of the petals. The bee (stop 2) moves freely past the petals, since it only touches the stem.
Questions
Why put a color first?
To sew a background or a tack-down first, to start with the thread already on the machine, or to finish with an outline on top.
Can I force a refused move?
No. The page keeps overlapping parts in order so what shows on top stays the same. Edit those in a digitizing program.
Does it change the colors my machine shows?
A DST file carries no colors, so your machine shows its own. Use the run sheet to know which spool each stop needs.
